Dear reader,
I'm so delighted to let you know that readers just like you have already helped us hit our goal of adding 2,500 financial contributions from readers by the end of September — support that helps us keep our journalism free.
Inspired by your support, we set a new goal: 5,500 new contributions by October 1. We only need 441 more to hit it. Please make a contribution today to help us hit our goal. It's humbling to know that so many people value the work Vox does to provide clarity and contextualize the biggest stories in approachable, helpful ways. Dylan Scott's recent piece on America's overflowing ICUs is a good example of what we strive for.
We've always known that the design of America's health care system is unique among similarly wealthy countries. But the system's failures are now painfully apparent, as unvaccinated Covid-19 patients fill up ICUs and hospitals are forced to turn people away. Yet, as Dylan explains, other countries have designed health care systems in such a way that they don't have to ration care.
Your support helps keep Vox free. Please help us hit our new September goal of adding 5,500 contributions by giving today.
With gratitude,
Swati Sharma, Vox EIC
