Train yourself I consider myself a very organized person, and it's because I am lazy. I do not want to have to look for anything. I am a true believer in "a place for everything and everything in its place." That means one place, not multiple places for things like mail, bills, keys, purses, wallets, etc. -Gwen Always Be Boxing My best tip is echoed in the podcast: use shoeboxes and delivery boxes to organize! They’re easy to label and the various sizes are useful in different spaces. Better yet, when you finally decide to clear out those toddler toys your now-teenager never plays with, they’re already boxed up for easy selling, consignment or donation. Easy win! -Jenny Create routines that actually work When I come home from my YMCA pool class, I immediately start a load of laundry with my wet suit and towels. When my laundry is dry I put it on the seat of my walker and go through the house putting away items. Since retirement due to loss of mobility, laundry became a chore I procrastinated. The worst part was that I wasn’t putting clean laundry away and I had two huge piles that I couldn’t deal with. Now I have a manageable routine that I can physically handle and my clean clothes are in the closet instead of in piles on the laundry room counter. -Laura And finally, Invest in a good label maker. -Yvonne B. |
