[Washington Post / Shayna Jacobs, Jacqueline Alemany, and Josh Dawsey] Bannon previously faced federal charges for personally using $1 million of the $25 million he helped raise; donors were told all funds would go toward construction. Sisak] That case ended on Trump's last day in office in January 2021 when he pardoned Bannon, but the Manhattan district attorney's office picked up the investigation into the case. [Vox / Ben Jacobs] EU could cap Russian gas prices On Wednesday, the European Union proposed a price cap on Russian gas, hoping to cut the revenue available to President Vladimir Putin for the war in Ukraine as energy prices surge. [Reuters] The EU accuses Russia of weaponizing its gas supply in response to Western sanctions. The Kremlin blames the disruption in gas supply on the sanctions and maintenance. [BBC / Paul Kirby] Putin threatened to cut off all gas supply to Europe, which remains dependent on Russian energy, if the bloc moved forward with the proposal.
