The Bank of Canada raised its key interest rate to 2.5 per cent on Wednesday with a hike of 100 basis points in an effort to rein in rampant inflation.
John Staples, who was in the waiting room of the N.B. emergency room, described the scene as a “stark and somber realization that our healthcare system is so sadly broken."
In some cases, the higher prices are due to a second milk price increase this year, that which will see farm gate milk prices go up about two cents per litre on Sept. 1.
