[19th News / Shefali Luthra] A draft opinion leaked from Supreme Court to Politico on Monday indicates that the Supreme Court is preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade, which would immediately ban or severely restrict abortion access in roughly two dozen states. [BuzzFeed / Clarissa-Jan Lim] Since Texas adopted its six-week ban, abortion care providers in surrounding states have been inundated with Texans needing services. But many of those states will also become more restrictive if Roe is overturned. Providers worry only patients who can afford to travel will be able to receive care after restrictions kick in. The center is the subject of the leaked draft opinion in Dobbs v. [Guardian / Jessica Glenza] South Asia faces record-breaking temperatures For weeks, a record-breaking heatwave has put more than a billion people at risk of heat-related illness in South Asia. [National Public Radio / Lauren Frayer] Parts of India saw temperatures of over 110 Fahrenheit while parts of neighboring Pakistan topped 120 — near the limit of what humans can survive. [Scientific American / E&E News / Chelsea Harvey] Rising temperatures have increased electricity demand, prompting rolling blackouts that closed factories and schools. Lower temperatures are expected for India and Pakistan this week, bringing much-needed relief.
