Ontario reported 2,467 people in hospital wards with COVID-19 (up by 48 from the previous day) with 438 patients in intensive care units (up by 26). Twelve more deaths were added.
The message that multiple COVID-19 shots may be required to address a pandemic of this magnitude isn’t sitting well for some – including those most willing to roll up sleeves.
An additional dose can increase protection for the immunocompromised but it's too early to give the general population a fourth COVID-19 shot, experts say.
The push comes as the country battles a continued surge of the highly infectious Omicron variant, which is straining healthcare systems to their limits.
