It's January 26, 2022. On this day in 1962, NASA launched the Ranger 3 probe to study the Moon. It never happened, though, as the Ranger missed its mark by ~22,000 miles. Oof. It's kinda up to card manufacturers. 2. Google Replacing FLoC With New Topics API Google is killing off its Federated Learning of Cohorts (FLoC) and replacing it with the new Topics API. With a greater emphasis on privacy and only focusing on a user's recent browsing history, it should be a better alternative to companies learning about our interests and showing tailored ads. Hopefully. 3. Substack Is Testing a New Video Player Online publishing platform Substack has a new video player for creators to try out. It's in beta right now, and limited to a small number of people, but between this and podcasting, Substack clearly doesn't only want to be about newsletters anymore.
